Established in 1997, the Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center’s (SARRC) mission is to advance research and provide a lifetime of support for individuals with autism and their families.
SARRC undertakes self-directed research, serves as a satellite site for national and international projects and provides up-to-date information, training and assistance to families and professionals about autism.
Over the past decade, the SARRC has worked diligently to provide quality services and support to children and families affected by autism, while searching for answers to solve the mysteries surrounding the disorder. It has been a decade of rapid growth, with ever-increasing demands to serve a burgeoning population of children being diagnosed, as well as an aging adult population living with autism spectrum disorders.
With a focus on delivering the highest-quality, evidence-based services and programs available, SARRC will continue to grow to meet the ever-increasing demands of our community.
Military Assistance Mission provides emergency financial and other assistance to the families of our service members and wounded warriors. Through generous, widespread public support and a collaborative team of exceptional staff and volunteers, we aspire to become the provider of choice for emergency financial and other assistance to the families of our service members and wounded warriors. Where there is a need we do not provide, we will partner with others for the benefit of our military families.
Military Assistance Mission provides direct services to alleviate a military family’s or individual’s emergency financial burden, as well as counseling and/or recovery support. Emergency financial assistance is in the form of checks paid directly to mortgage lenders, auto mechanics, contractors, hospitals, doctors, dentists and other providers. Other emergency funding assistance, which an applicant receives within 24 to 72 hours, includes financial assistance, emergency food, baby formula/food/diapers, home and appliance repair, furniture and household items, local moving assistance, and Wounded Warrior transitional family housing.
St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance, the world's first food bank, is a non-sectarian, nonprofit organization that alleviates hunger by efficiently gathering and distributing food to sites that serve the hungry. Serving two-thirds of Arizona's 15 counties, the organization is committed to volunteerism, building community relationships and improving the quality of life for Arizonans in need.
St. Mary's Food Bank takes very seriously and with unmatched pride its commitment as a responsible non-profit organization that is accountable to the community it serves. Over five decades, St. Mary's has tackled the challenge of easing hunger in Arizona through the vision of founder John van Hengel.
Keeping pace with the incredible upturn in need that has followed the poor economic climate and the huge rise in unemployment and underemployment, the Food Bank distributed more than 72 million pounds of food in Fiscal Year 2009-10 to meets the needs of the ever-rising number of Arizona's hungry - providing enough food into the community to provide nearly 275,000 meals per day.
